EDINA, MN (June 29, 2008) – Although Inbee Park bested the greatest player in the history of women’s golf while winning the 63rd U.S. Women’s Open, Annika Sorenstam was honored as the fashion favorite in the final round by women’s golf clothing designer Tracey Lynn Blake.
“Annika’s outfit by Cutter & Buck, an electric blue skort and black short-sleeve shirt with coordinating accents on each, and an electric blue cap, confirmed she can do it all. She can look better than everyone, and play shots as no one else can. Consider her six-iron on the 18th hole which went in for eagle,” Blake said. “That was a great way to finish her U.S. Women’s career, and provided an electric moment for her and the crowd.”
Blake, president and founder of tracey lynn golf, www.traceylynngolf.com, a fashion-forward women’s golf clothing line for women who are seeking athletic, but stylish golf apparel, reviews the clothing worn by players in the final round of each LPGA major championship, designating the top outfit, Sorenstam’s today, as Sunday’s Best®.
One of the major trends in the final round at Interlachen Country Club, was solid colors head-to-toe, as demonstrated by Paula Creamer, in an all-salmon colored Adidas dress which even her shoes matched; Inbee Park in her all white outfit, and Nicole Castrale, in her head-to-toe black sleeveless shirt, skort, shoes and hat. “Nicole just looked sharp today,” said Blake.
“The players who really stand out are the ones that keep it simple,” Blake said.
Blake’s 2008 collection is available online and includes pieces with new electric blue, chrome, and black with leopard accents. The line is well-rounded to include black, red and white skorts, shirts and mock turtlenecks, shorts, capris, pants and jackets.
QUICK STITCH
Another trend seen with the majority of the players was white – to handle the heat and humidity on Sunday that followed rain earlier in the week in Minnesota. White was prevalent either on top or bottom – then accented by players with some color. White accessories (hats, belts, shoes and sunglasses) clearly are the style.
